I give West Orange High School 0 out of 5 stars. I am a current student and do not believe this school deserves any more than 0 stars (I had to put one star otherwise the rating would not submit). I have seen first hand the lack of teaching motivation in teachers and also administrators as well as counselors ignoring students when they need help simply because it is an inconvenience to their lives. Of course, this is all so disappointing because I moved to Florida this year due to the fact that at that time, the school had a rating of 8, better opportunities future wise, and it was said to be a great school. Well I can tell you now that the school has a 5 out of 10 rating. Therefore, I will not be attending West Orange High School next year as I choose to not put myself through this abuse any longer than I already have. If you are reading this review then you are probably considering moving to the school district. Do your kids a favor and go somewhere else. This is not the great school you may think it is. This rating has been written in all honesty.

Very open campus and administration - leadership is right on target for parents. The time spent in school is as important to us as parents as it is the students.

This school is the best school I've gone to. We are overcrowded, but on the plus side, it gives us an abundant of available courses, teachers, and opportunities.

This school is horrible. They do not make any arrangement to comply with Individual Edification Plans (IEP) for students with disabilities. They blame the students for their disabilities and refuse to comply with federal laws requiring compliance. The county administrators then back up school administrators and refuse to implement IEP. They use "overcrowding" as an excuse for failing to teach students. The "A" rating is sham.

I worked as a substitute teacher for 3 years and frequently worked at West Orange High School. Firstly, it is a brand new school, about 6 years old or so, beautiful and well designed. I found the school to be consistently well-run, with clear rules and consequences that obviously worked. Students got to class on time and did their work. Disruptions were rare. The feeling on the campuses (the ninth grade is at a separate campus around the corner, but they share sports facilities) was that of people who enjoyed talking to each other, but had work to do. Whether it was PE, foreign language, or history, students did their work simply because they knew the consequences of not doing so. Those are my observances as a sub. As a neighbor of the school, I enjoy the excitement provided by the sports teams. They have a fantastic sports program, and I like to follow the teams. I cannot speak to the issues of the day, such as bullying, etc. I only know that the school felt safe and I am not concerned about my children going there next year!

My eldest daughter graduated from West Orange last year, and my 2nd daughter is graduating this year. Both my children have been very satisfied with their experience at West Orange. The drama club, the music department, baseball team, wrestling team, NHS, and other extra-curricular activities are rated among the best. Both my girls have taken AP classes. My eldest earned 24 credits from AP classes, which were accepted at FSU. You can rest assured that West Orange is a great school.

West Orange provides a good-quality education to West Orange-area students, and we have been pleased these last two years with the administration's interest in, and guidance department's attention to, our child's growth and achievement. We've received much better guidance and support from this school than we ever received from our college-prep private school. The band program is excellent, and staffed with highly capable individuals who care about the students. We are thrilled with our decision to move our child into the public school system, and are excited at the prospect of our younger child starting as a freshman in Fall 2011.

My daughters, a senior and a junior this year, love their school. There are many great teachers at this school and both my daughters are prouds to be Warriors. The leadership provided by Mr. Larsen has been the change that the school needed. Go Warriors!

Our senior at WOHS has thrived at this school! They have an outstanding AP program, a top rated choir, and wonderful sports programs. The Principal, Staff and Faculty truly care about the students success. My son has been accepted to a top-rated college with a scholarship and we know his success is due to the WOHS experience. It's a pleasure to call WOHS our high school and I can't wait for my two future Warriors to attend!

We have had children at West Orange for 6 years and another starting this fall. My husband and I appreciate the beautiful new building and the quality of teachers, especially in the AP classes. We are active volunteers and have seen first hand the commitment of the leaders and coaches in the fine arts and athletic departments. Our son is a Junior and is receiving requests from Ivy League schools. West Orange will prepare your child for the best colleges out there. Go Warriors!
